Select satellites and sensors

Satellites and sensors for a scenario are selected from the Scenario pane. A satellite's orbit and sensor options list can be viewed by using the expand and collapse icons. Clicking on a sensor or orbits check-box activates that item for the current scenario.

Different satellite lists can be loaded into the Scenario pane Active Satellite list by choosing from the drop down menu that opens by clicking on the icon (see also: Configure the satellite list and Edit satellite lists). .

Note: Selecting and de-selecting a satellite check-box does not cancel the orbit and sensor selections you have made.

Other options available from the Scenario pane:

Right click on a satellite to:

  • Copy - Copy the satellite's orbit and sensor information to the copy buffer.
  • Paste - Paste the previously copied satellite orbit and sensor information to the satellite list. The new satellite is created with the same name followed by an underscore and number (ie. Radarsat_1).
  • Rename - Rename the satellite.
  • Satellite Wizard ...  - Allows viewing of the current satellite parameters or the creation of a new satellite using the Satellite Wizard.
  • Sensor Wizard ... - Allows creation of a new sensor using the Sensor Wizard.
  • Delete Satellite - Delete the satellite from the list.
  • Hide All Swaths - Hide (or clear) all swath information (i.e. sensor and sensor mode selection) for a satellite.
  • Orbit - Display or hide the satellite orbit.
  • Ground Track - Display or hide the satellite ground track.
  • Coverage Cone - Display or hide the tangential visibility cone for the satellite.
  • Zoom to Satellite - Zoom the camera to view the satellite.
  • Point Towards - Moves the camera slightly behind the satellite such that it points towards the satellite and the selected submenu object. The camera will continue to point in this direction for the simulation mode until it is repositioned.
  • Arrow Towards - Adds an arrow in the displays pointing from the satellite to the selected object. Selecting "Remove All Arrows" from the submenu will remove all arrows for the submenu.

Right click on an orbit element type to:

  • Copy - Copy the satellite's orbit element information to the copy buffer.
  • Paste - Paste the previously copied orbit element to the current satellite. The new orbit element is created with the same name followed by an underscore and number if needed (ie. Two Line Elements_1).
  • Rename - Rename the orbit.
  • Delete Orbit - Delete the orbit.
  • Update TLE ... - Update the satellite orbit element's two line elements.
  • Orbit - Display or hide the satellite orbit.
  • Ground Tracks - Display or hide the satellite ground track.

Right click on a sensor to:

  • Copy - Copy the sensor information to the copy buffer.
  • Paste - Paste the previously copied sensor information to the current satellite.
  • Sensor Wizard ... - Allows viewing of the current sensor parameters or the creation of a new sensor using the Sensor Wizard
  • Select All - Select all the swaths associated with this sensor or sensor mode. The sensor itself must be selected as well.
  • Hide All - Deselect all the swaths associated with this sensor or sensor mode.
  • Engaged - Toggles whether the sensor is engaged in the intersection calculations. If disengaged, the intersection calculation will not be done with this sensor.
  • Delete Sensor - Delete the sensor.
  • Change Color - Change the color of a sensor's swath.
  • Rename - Rename the sensor.

Right click on a sensor mode / swath to:

  • Sensor Wizard ... - Allows viewing of the current sensor parameters or the creation of a new sensor using the Sensor Wizard
  • Engaged - Toggles whether the sensor mode or swath is engaged in the intersection calculations. If disengaged, the intersection calculation will not be done with this sensor mode or swath.
  • Delete Sensor Mode - Delete the sensor mode or swath.
  • Change Color - Change the color of a sensor's swath.
  • Rename - Rename the sensor mode or swath.
